Sentosa Trip

About a week ago, we had our family outing to Sentosa. We got the promotional package and visited a total of 5 attractions during the trip. We were fortunate that the day was sunny (Nov/Dec is rainy season here)and we really enjoyed the day.

Several new attractions have been added since our last trip in 2007. We enjoyed the Luge the most. Initially, my girl was a little apprehensive about riding it all alone though she has passed the height limit of 1.10m. After some encouragement from us and with mummy's assurance to be always behind her, she went for the solo ride and enjoyed it tremendously. Luge is something like go-kart and the route went downhill which made it all the more exciting, there's also a winding route to challenge your agility in manouvering the Luge. We will come back for it again this month since the promotional package allows us unlimited access to the island up to 5 Jan 09.

With the Luge, comes the Skyride too. Another new attraction was the Tiger Sky Tower which was a revolving tower and Singapore's tallest observation tower. From there, we caught a bird's eye view of the Integrated Resort which was under construction. The 4D Magix was another attraction that we enjoyed. It was a unique movie experience where you experienced your seats shaking, water droplets sprinkled on you and other special effects. We also visited the Merlion, Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom. We had a great time together!

Food

Celebrated our wedding anniversary a few days back. Had lunch at this restaurant offering modern European cuisine at Prinsep St. Hubby ordered a steak while I ate a dish of cod fish. The presentation of the food is nice enough to make me drool. The mushroom soup is simply great and I think it's the best I've tasted. I won't say that I'm a small eater, but I got to give the dessert a miss after just the soup and main course. The portion is big enough to fill my stomach to the brim. In fact, after the rich mushroom soup, I was already 1/3 full.

The nice thing about the lunch is that not only the food is good, there is no crowd. After the couple who came before us left, we'd the restaurant all to ourselves!

Took some pics on by hp but has not downloaded them yet. Will do so later.....

Book Fest

Have gone to the Popular Book Fest yesterday, thinking that it is the last day of the 2-week long fair and the crowd should not be there. I was wrong. It was crowded but definitely better than the Crocs sale. The assessment books section was packed with parents carefully pouring over the many selections and thinking hard which books to bring home (moi being one of them).

Have got several books for my kids, which are additional to the many that I've purchased 3 days ago. Compared to many parents there who purchased the assessment books by the trolley, my load is considered peanuts.

As I'm now staying at home, I've more time to spend on my kids' study and thus more work to be assigned to them. My son has cited that as one of the cons of mummy not working n staying at home. Well, my response to him is that I'm doing it for his own good :)

Exam Fever.... Will Be Back Soon....

It has been sometime since I last posted something. No, I've not stopped creating jewelry. It's just that the exam fever is on! My kids exams are round the corner and I'm trying to stay focus in getting them/helping them in their revision.

When they were asleep, I create my jewelry, if inspiration comes and the mood is right - it's therapeutic! But I realised that inspiration comes more easily when the mind is not so tired and pressurized. So we'll see what happens these coming 3 weeks as the exams are approaching.....

5 earrings and 1 choker - that's what I've done last month but have not got time to post them on my blog. My hubby, usually hogs the laptop at night. He seems to have endless e-mails to clear, having just cleared them in office before coming back home less than 2 hrs ago. A bunch of workaholics indeed.

Do stay tuned and watch out for my post on 1 Nov 08. See ya!

Charms

Got a request from my son to make some handphone charms for him to give away as Teachers' Day gifts. Have crafted these 4 different ones. Well, he liked the one with pink Swarovski butterfly crystal best and has given it to his most favourite teacher.

Recycleble Bags in Style

Got this recycleble eco-friendly bag online (actually my sister-in-law got it for me since she is getting hers too). Unlike the typical re-usable bags, this bag comes with stylish designs and colours, is lightweight (made of waterproof material like your umbrellas)and can be folded into a small roll which does not take up a lot of space in your handbag. It's so convenient and I bring it with me whenever I'm out. It's available on www.envirosax.com. There's plenty of designs to choose from and it took me quite some time to decide on this one.

Gummy Drop

These cat's eye beads remind me of gummy drops. Was organising my beads and happened to put these together in the same little bag. Thought what were in the little bag was a beautiful combination of green and pink. Teamed them up with kidney ear wires and the effect of the earring is simply yummy!

Sassy Lime

Irregular beads with a shade of green, flower-shaped spacers and metal chains formed this unassuming pair of earring. Total drop including ear wire measures about 4 cm. It's definitely a lovely addition to your casual collection.

Retro Pink

Got these acrylic beads (come in a pack of 3 colours) from a shop in Tokyo. Loved the simplicity of the beads with a hint of retro flavour. Each lovely pink stripped bead sits snuggly between 2 flower spacers. Definitely a fun pair of earring to have!

Oriental Blue

This pair of earring has a nice blue cloisonne bead dropping from kidney-shaped ear wire. I've enclosed the bead with some simple wirework. Has intentionally kept the design simple to bring out the nice bead.

Rubik's Cube

Not too long ago, there was this craze about Rubik's cube in my house. Hubby brought the kids to Toys 'R' Us and bought 2 cubes at one go - a 3 by 3 and a 2 by 2.

Since then, there had been the nightly sessions where the daddy would train the kids to solve the cube step by step. Both my kids have finally mastered solving both the cubes. My elder 9-yr-old has clocked a personal best of 2 mins 45 secs for solving the 3 by 3 cube while my younger 7-yr-old has done it below 4 mins. Then, the pressure is on mummy to solve it too. I've never been interested in puzzles, protested mummy. However, I finally succumbed to the pressure from my kids to learn to solve the cube too. Have only managed stage 1 out of 6 stages.... still a long way to go........ Well, interest and passion is very important in the face of challenging task. Let's see whether I'll ever learn how to solve the Rubik's cube. Will definitely proudly share it with all if I've conquered the quest. Go, mummy go...........

Pastel Garden

Had paired the floral glass beads with matching Swarovski crystals of 2 sizes (4mm & 5 mm). The colour combination is soothing and sweet. Goes well with causals.

Pearly

This sweet little choker was assembled with swarovski pearls and seed beads. It measures about 34 cm and comes with an extension. Can be worn as a formal piece.

Smoky

This pair of earring is crafted with tear-drop smoky beads, interspaced with flower-shaped spacers. Thought the effect was quite a nice formation.

Olympics 2008

Now, I'm gonna try posting a picture. This is a pic of the countdown clock to Olympics 2008 taken while holidaying in Beijing last year.

I Did It!

I've finally done it - created my own blog!

Must admit that I'm not a IT savvy person and so had this great inertia to even want to start trying to create a blog. Have been using the excuse that I'm busy with work - office work, kids' work and housework. Now that I'm taking a break from work and that the kids' exams were over, thought I better get started. I've this colleague who has created hers some time back and she has been constantly upgrading her blog with more features. Admired her self-motivation and untiring spirit!

Still navigating and trying out the basic features like how to change the layout, font (there's so limited selection in the existing availale list), post pictures, etc. There's so much to learn! at least to a non-IT savvy me. I'm glad that I've at least done the first step. Will keep trying to beef up my blog :)
